Year 11 and 6th form art students went to the Tate, The Barbara Hepworth Museum and some of the commercial galleries, in the most arty town in the South West possibly the UK, St. Ives. All students were introduced to the work of Dexter Dalwood, an artist who uses small constructed collages taken from magazines to make large paintings, which reference pop and post modern culture often from an imagined room belonging to someone very famous which we all knew. This was a very exciting exhibition which had all the right connections to inspire artwork from our students and help them to analyze the culture and time they live in. Trips to the Barbara Hepworth studio and gardens were also very rewarding and a wander around town without the hoards of tourists who will soon be there. A great day!
